The House That God Builds July 12, 2010

Cindy deVilleIf God has called us to be wise women who build (Proverbs 14:1), then the question we must ask is HOW? How does God want us to build? Over the next several weeks I believe God wants to talk to us about building our lives, homes, families, His Church and even our world His way.

We can find an abundance of self help and how to books on the market today, both Christian and secular. These books are not necessarily bad, and God can use them to help bring understanding and knowledge in areas we are attempting to build in. But, we cannot just take someone else’s formula and start building something. For whatever we build by the wisdom and arm of the flesh will eventually corrupt and crumble at our feet.

We see an example of birthing and building things in the flesh in Genesis 16:2. Sarah takes matters into her own hands, trying to make things happen instead of waiting on God’s timing. She acted in the flesh offering her maid Hagar to Abraham to attempt to bring forth the promise of God. A son was born, but it was a child of the flesh and this decision caused great distress in her household and to this day Ishmael's descendants continue to be a problem in our world.

If we are going to build, then we must build by God’s Spirit, according to His plans and blueprints or our labor will be in vain and potentially could cause pain. Psalm 127:1 tells us that unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.

How sad it would be if at the end of this life, as we stand at the judgment seat of Christ, we find much of what we built and labored so hard for thrown into the fire and deemed worthless before our King. God wants to show us as women how to build a house that will last and stand the test of time.

In the next several weeks we will be looking at God’s blueprints for building:

God’s Blueprint for Building:
Building In OBEDIENCE
Building by the Power of His Spirit through PRAYER
Building on the foundation of GOD’S WORD
Building by FAITH
Building with PATIENCE and in PEACE

Closing Prayer:
Prayer: Father, I pray that you would teach us as women how to build our lives, homes, families, our Churches, and our world by the Power of Your Holy Spirit. In all that we do we pray that your Glory and greatness would shine through!

HAVE A GLORIOUS DAY!
