In Jesus we find such a beautiful example for our lives. In His day many wondered how He walked with such confidence and authority, and they wanted to know where it came from. What was His secret? I believe it can be found in the intimate relationship He had with the Father. His love and devotion was so deep that He was willing to obey even if it meant death. It is so easy sometimes for us to say that we love God and to sing feel good worship songs about love, but Jesus tells us the truth in John 14:15 "If you love Me, you will obey Me.” This is God’s real test of our love.
I Do Only Those Things that Please the Father – John 8:29
As women we may feel pulled and pressured by all the needs and distractions around us, but if we are going to build God’s way and fulfill His destiny for our lives, then we must walk as Jesus did. All around Him there were multitudes pressing in, pulling on Him and crying out with great need. But it was the Father’s voice above all others He had to hear and heed or He would never fulfill His ultimate purpose and destiny – to save the world. In John 8:29 Jesus said “I do only those things that please the Father” this should be our passionate prayer and purpose.
Saying Yes and No at the Same Time
There are many times in my life I have had to say no to someone, so that I could say yes to God. At times this has been very difficult for me because I just naturally want to please and make everyone happy. But, if we are going to be confident women of God and walk in peace, then we must become single minded, and consumed with pleasing the Father.
We must spend our lives and energies building only those things that He is asking us to build. He really makes it simple for us – just pray and obey Him. We cannot be distracted and pulled by all the opinions of man. If we seek to please them above God then we have made them our Lord. It is God first we must seek to please. Paul said it perfectly in Galatians 1:10 “If I live to please man, then I am no longer a bond servant of Christ!"
Confidence, Peace and Security
If we will follow the example of Jesus in His relationship with the Father and seek to please Him above all else, I believe we will begin to have an amazing confidence, peace and security in every area of our lives.
HAVE A GLORIOUS DAY!
