Some of my favorite writings on Prayer are those of EM Bounds. His original writings are from the early 1900’s and are so beautifully written, so pure and cut right to the heart, always stirring and bringing a great conviction for God's people to come up higher, in prayer and purity in life.
I tend to be drawn to Christian authors from years past, as their writings seem to carry so much more substance and depth. Many of them challenged their generation to lives of consecration, purity, and dedicated prayer, whereas many authors today tend to be more focused on how we may obtain more in this life, and on how to pursue spiritual experience.
Today, I would like to share a few pieces of EM Bounds writings on Prayer and Consecration with you. If you have a desire to increase and grow in your prayer life, I encourage you to take some time daily to read such books that will stir your heart to a life of passionate prayer and consecration. Search for authors that will challenge you to go beyond where you are in your prayer life and walk with Christ.
Excerpts from Prayer and Consecration, by EM Bounds
Consecration is much more than a life of so-called service. It is a life of personal holiness, first of all. It is that which brings spiritual power into the heart and enlivens the entire inner man. It is a life which ever recognizes God, and a life given up to true prayer.
Full Consecration is the highest type of a Christian life. It is the one divine standard of experience, of living and of service. It is the one thing at which the believer should aim. Nothing short of entire consecration must satisfy Him.
Never is he(she) to be contented till he is fully, entirely the Lord’s by his own consent. His praying naturally and voluntarily leads up to this one act.
Consecration is the voluntary set dedication of one’s self to God, an offering definitely made, and made without any reservation whatever. It is the setting apart of all we are, all we have, and all we expect to have or be, to God first of all.
Closing Prayer:
Father, I pray today that you would stir a deep hunger in every woman’s heart for a greater and higher level of consecration and prayer. May our lives become lives of prayer so that your presence, power and beauty can be released and displayed everywhere. May our lives become lives of prayer, that Christ and His Glory can be released and revealed in our homes, our communities, our nation and world. God is waiting on us.
Have a Glorious Week!

Isaiah 40:5
PS. We ask you to please keep us in your prayers, as in obedience to God, we call the nation, beginning with God’s house to it’s knees in repentance and prayer. God wants to pour out His Glory and Spirit on America, and bring a true Great Awakening, but it will only come forth through true repentance and dedicated prayer.
